WWE Survivor Series 2013 Predictions

Survivor Series has had some weak line-ups in the last few years; this one is no different. I think we can assume that this won’t be doing many buys but I think more and more we can start to see WrestleMania taking shape after this ppv.

WWE Championship Match:
Randy Orton (c) vs. Big Show

Given that Orton himself has already accepted that he might not be able to beat Big Show on his own, we’re to expect Triple H to interfere. I could see Orton retaining after The Shield (who, of course, debuted on this ppv last year) run in to take out Big Show who fights them off until Hunter pedigrees him, leaving Orton to cover him for the win. That would set up Triple H v Big Show at TLC, maybe even at the Rumble.

I don’t see Big Show winning the title in 2013 as something that makes any sense but I don’t doubt that it would get a big reaction. I think Orton needs to be holding this title until Mania. The Big Show via DQ is surely too obvious a finish that would just piss people off?

Winner: Orton

World Heavyweight Championship Match:
John Cena (c) vs. Alberto Del Rio

This ought to be the blow off to this feud but the fact that the chair keeps being used in this feud by Del Rio could suggest that we’ll have to see this match again next month under different stips. The ‘chairs match’ is fairly laughable but does make sense in this context. They’re using Cena to rehab this title and until we have a winner of the Rumble (Sheamus, Punk, Bryan?) I don’t know who else Cena will feud with.

Cena, like Orton, could be taking his title into Mania.

Winner: Cena

5-on-5 Traditional Elimination Tag Team Match:
Cody Rhodes, Goldust, The Usos and Rey Mysterio vs. Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro

Going on recent form, this should be the best match on the card. Cody and Goldust are excellent together and keeping them in a 10-man tag means that the titles aren’t changing hands and Goldust isn’t turning until the New Year where they can build to a match against each other at Mania. The Usos are looking good right now, too. They have benefitted from the push they’ve had of late and know how to get over with a live crowd. I have no idea why they have brought back Mysterio for this – he’s clearly still hurt and just appeared, wrestling twice on TV for free. Bizarre.

The Shield are excellent as is Cesaro. I can see in-fighting happening here. It might be too early to split them but Roman Reigns is going to be a star.

Babyfaces should win this one for that feel-good Thanksgiving ending: everyone hits their finishing moves, culminating in a 619 followed by an Uso Superfly Splash for the pin.

Winners: Cody Rhodes, Goldust, The Usos and Rey Mysterio

7-on-7 Traditional Tag Team Elimination Match:
Cameron, Naomi, Natalya, Eva Marie, Jo Jo and The Bella Twins vs. AJ Lee, Tamina Snuka, Alicia Fox, Kaitlyn, Summer Rae, Rosa Mendes and Aksana

This will be horrendous but who really cares? Some of these girls have the potential to be fairly dangerous in the ring so I hope they count a load of them out so that we don’t see anyone get dropped on their head. AJ and Natalya is about as good as it gets here.

Winners: AJ Lee, Tamina Snuka, Alicia Fox, Kaitlyn, Summer Rae, Rosa Mendes and Aksana

WWE Intercontinental Title Match:
Big E. Langston (c) vs. Curtis Axel

Langston will retain here but I fear for Axel. They gave him everything and he blew it. He’s just a poor character with zero charisma. He ought to join one of the stables now if they’re even interested in rehabbing him.

Winner: Langston

CM Punk and Daniel Bryan vs. Luke Harper and Erick Rowan

The Wyatts have had a late swing in the odds but that hasn’t clouded my decision - I would still have picked them anyway. They’ll need carrying but who better to do that than Punk and Bryan? I hope that they’re given time.

Bryan ought to be the one getting pinned here. I hope Punk is protected and that he’s back in the main event picture soon. Bryan v Punk at Mania, please.

Winners: The Wyatts

Kickoff Pre-Show Match:
Kofi Kingston vs. The Miz

The Miz as a heel is a least slightly more bearable than Miz as a bayface – everyone hates him anyway; you might as well have him be a dick. Kofi is going nowhere and can do a job to help Miz showcase his new heel gimmick. Should be half decent but it’s not selling in ppv buys.

Winner: The Miz
